Virgin Atlantic to launch services to Accra.

Virgin Atlantic announces the launch of services to Accra
- three services per week from 24 May 2010

From 24 May 2010, Virgin Atlantic is launching a new route from London Heathrow to Accra in Ghana. Their Chief Executive Officer, Steve Ridgeway says, "Nearly 200,000 people fly between London and Accra each year and our new services will give them more choice and better value. Ghana is a beacon for economic success in West Africa, and with Africa showing greater economic resilience and growth than other global regions, we are thrilled that this will be our fifth route in Africa."

Ghana is a rapidly expanding country with historic links to the UK, a thriving economy and a growing oil and gas industry. Its capital Accra is buzzing and diverse, offering new business opportunities and a broad range of cultural activities.

The new flights will be timed to provide good business connections for travellers between Ghana, London and United States and are expected to depart on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays with return flights from Accra on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from Kotoka International Airport.

Flights will be operated on an Airbus A340-300 aircraft fitted with the Upper Class Suite. Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class Suite, consists of a reclining leather seat for take off, a place to sit and eat a three course meal opposite your partner, the longest fully flat bed in the world with a proper mattress for sleeping on, a private onboard bar to drink at with your friends – all at a price thousands of pounds less than other airlines’ First Class. The Upper Class experience also includes checking in at the Heathrow Upper Class Wing use of the award-winning Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse.

Virgin Atlantic offers a unique product for Premium Economy passengers with an ergonomically designed leather seat and many services like dedicated check-in and priority boarding which help to make the journey as seamless as possible.  Virgin Atlantic’s Economy class continues to offer passengers value for money and added extras like seat back televisions for all passengers.
