Virgin Atlantic

It’s been a very exciting year so far at Virgin Atlantic and they’re delighted to keep you in the loop
with all their latest news:

Amazing Accra

On 24 May, Virgin Atlantic launched a new route from London Heathrow to Accra in Ghana. Flights have been timed to provide great connections to and from New York’s Newark airport and will provide more choice for people visiting the country.

Ghana is a rapidly expanding country with historic links to the UK, a thriving economy and a growing oil and gas industry. Its capital Accra is buzzing and diverse, offering new business opportunities and a broad range of cultural activities. The new route is their fifth in Africa.

New aircraft, new era

From April 2011, Virgin Atlantic will be taking to the skies with a number of new A330 aircraft. The new planes have twin engines and will help them to achieve some important fuel and sustainability goals and will also enable the airline to retire some of their older Virgin Atlanticaircraft.

The new aircraft will also be super comfortable. The first batch of A330s will have two cabins – Premium Economy and Economy and they’ll be using these on their most popular leisure routes, where demand for Upper Class is lower. All the aircraft will include the new luxurious Premium Economy seat and new Economy seats, which means your journey will be even more relaxing.

Later the A330s will also include new features in the Upper Class suite – watch this space for impressive developments.

Entertainment takes flight!

Virgin Atlantic's new A330s will also be fitted with the Panasonic eX2 inflight entertainment system. The new system will give passengers full connectivity onboard, including the ability to make phone calls and send and receive texts and emails using your own mobile devices.

You’ll also be able to plug in a USB and view your own content on your seatback screen and in Premium Economy and Upper Class, you will also be able to plug in mobile devices to play music, videos, pictures and documents!

The new cutting edge system even allows passengers to read film reviews from leading critics and rate films themselves while creating playlists and catching up with live news updates, destination videos, and interactive maps. Plus, Virgin Atlantic are already working on plans to introduce internet access and an e-reader for digital newspapers and magazines which will have touch screen technology to turn pages.
