SAA's brand-new A330-200 aircraft.
SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS has the largest route network
within Southern Africa, offering flights to
over 30 destinations from its hubs in
Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The airline operates daily overnight flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town from Terminal 1 at London's Heathrow Airport, effectively giving customers an extra two days holiday.
SAA has recently replaced older-generation A340-200 with a brand-new A330-200 aircraft on its London-Cape Town route.
The A330 already operates one of the two daily flights to Johannesburg, so now over 60 per cent of the UK operations are operated by aircraft less than a year old. The A330 is not only more fuel efficient – it reduces a carbon footprint – but also offers more service enhancements for SAA’s customers, like state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment.
Some of the great features of their international wide-bodied aircraft:
Business Class
> Forward Facing Lie Flat Beds with a seat pitch of at least 73", allowing you to really stretch out and get a proper night’s sleep.> 2-2-2 Configuration means a window or aisle seat is guaranteed
> A La Carte Menu inspired by South Africa’s finest chefs
> Award Winning Top South African Wines throughout the flight
> Dedicated check in and priority baggage handling
> Departure Lounge Access in both directions allowing you to relax in a calm environment before you board.
> Unique to SAA, Arrivals Lounge access in both directions allowing you to freshen up ready for the day ahead*.
> In seat Power at every seat for those who need to keep working
> Online Check-In 24 hours prior to departure
> A generous 30kg Baggage Allowance plus a 20kg Sporting Equipment allowance lets you include sporting gear hassle free.
*Arrivals lounges available in London and Johannesburg only.
Economy Class
> A 2-4-2 Seat Configuration means less clambering over fellow passengers as no-one sits more than one seat from the aisle.> A 31-34" seat pitch allows you to really stretch out in one of the most spacious cabins to Southern Africa.
> Individual audio/video “on demand programming” means total control of the entertainment; start, pause, stop, rewind and fast forward at will, no more missing the crucial bits or the end of the movie!
> A choice of meal served with excellent South African wines and a wide range of complimentary drinks.
> Check-in online – minimises stress levels and saves time at the airport.
> A 23kg Baggage Allowance plus a 20kg Sporting Equipment allowance lets you take your golf clubs or diving equipment without the worry of excess baggage charges.
But, whichever aircraft you're flying on, they’re geared to meet all of your travel needs. You can sit back in your comfy seat, sample excellent South African inspired cuisine and enjoy the in-flight entertainment or bring along your wallet for a little onboard shopping.
