One of Britain's leading airlines, bmi, is to add hundreds of extra seats each week to its popular service between London Heathrow and Aberdeen.

From 1st August 2010, bmi will be adding larger aircraft to several of its daily flights between the two cities, enabling it to satisfy growing corporate and leisure demand. Extended use of the airline's A319 fleet will see nearly 3,000 seats being added to the route each week, or a 90% increase in seat capacity each day.

Katherine Gershon, Sales & Marketing Director for bmi, commented: "bmi is strongly committed to growing the London Heathrow - Aberdeen market and adding extra seats will help to meet demand from corporate customers, as well as the ever-growing demand for onward flights. Many of our customers, especially on early morning services, want the flexibility to fly bmi into Heathrow and then onto other destinations on our network including Baku and Moscow. These changes will make it much easier for them to do that, on time and in comfort. We are also seeing increased demand for our American codeshare flights, such as Houston, following Continental joining Star Alliance last year".

bmi will be upgrading three of its six daily services from Embraer Regional Jets to Airbus 319 aircraft, which average 140 seats on each flight.

The schedule with new aircraft type will be as follows:

London Heathrow - Aberdeen
07:00 – 08:30 (A319);
10:15 – 11:55 (ER4);
13:00 – 14:45 (ER4);
15:00 – 16:40 (ER4);
17:45 – 19:20 (A319);
20:00 – 21:30 (A319)

Aberdeen - London Heathrow
07:40 – 09:35 (A319);
10:10 – 11:50 (A319);
12:25 – 14:05 (ER4);
15:20 – 16:55 (ER4);
17:10 – 18:50 (ER4);
20:00 – 21:40 (A319)

bmi offers a single cabin service between London Heathrow and Aberdeen featuring Flexible Economy and Economy. Customers in Flexible Economy benefit from lounge access at both ends of route, separate seating at the front of the aircraft and complimentary food and drink throughout the day.

bmi has also recently announced new routes between London Heathrow and Berlin and Vienna. bmi now flies five times daily to Berlin and twice daily to Vienna.
