UK Visa Requirements
16 Feb 2009 0:00
Changes to UK Visa Requirements from 3 March 2009.
Following are changes to the UK Visa Requirements for nationals of South Africa, Jamaica and Taiwan that will come into effect from 3 March 2009.
South Africa
From 3 March 2009, nationals of South Africa will require visas to enter and transit the UK. There is a transitional arrangement in place for any South African national arriving in the UK from 3 March who has a recent UK entry stamp in their current passport.
Jamaica
Nationals of Jamaica will require a visa to transit the UK, effective from 3 March 2009.
Unless they are otherwise exempt from UK Visa requirements, Jamaica nationals will be required to obtain a DATV from a UK entry clearance post overseas before travelling to the UK in order to catch an onward flight to another destination from the same airport. If a Jamaica national wishes to transit from a different UK airport, he must hold a Visit Visa or Visitor in Transit Visa.
Nationals of Jamaica already require a visa to enter the UK.
Taiwan
Nationals of Taiwan will no longer require a visa to enter the UK with effect from 3 March 2009.
However, visa will be required for those passengers who intend to seek entry in a category that requires prior entry clearance, including those coming to the UK for more than six months.
