Eric Brannan - Chairman

Eric Brannan (Chairman)

Eric brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Statesman Travel following a truly glittering and distinguished career in the travel industry. He was Senior Vice President of Travel Operations in Europe for American Express, before joining BTI Hogg Robinson as Managing Director UK and Europe, a role that he relinquished in 2000. He joined the Phoenix Travel Group as a non-executive Director and was a major influence in the development of the company through to its acquisition in 2002 by TQ3 Travel Solutions.

Mervyn Williamson - Joint Managing Director

Mervyn Williamson (Joint Managing Director)

Mervyn has an Honours Degree in Mathematics and qualified as a Chartered Accountant before entering the travel industry in 1991. He joined the Phoenix Travel Group in 1995 after 3 years at American Airlines as Financial Controller. Four years later Mervyn became a major shareholder in the agency following a management buy-out. When Phoenix was acquired by TQ3 Travel Solutions in 2002 he was invited to join the European Board and was appointed Managing Director of the UK and EMEA in 2003.

Jon Langley - Joint Managing Director

Jon Langley (Joint Managing Director)

Jon’s travel career began in 1973 when he joined BEA as a reservations agent and he remained with the newly created British Airways for 5 years before joining Harris Travel. Three years later he moved to IEL Travel and was Operations Director until 1993 when the company was sold to American Express. He joined the Phoenix Travel Group later that year and was appointed Managing Director in 1996, becoming a major shareholder in the agency following a management buy-out in 1999. Phoenix was acquired by TQ3 Travel Solutions in 2002 and Jon remained at the helm until 2003 when he elected to become a non Executive Director.

Kyriacos Paschalis - I.T. Director

Kyriacos Paschalis (I.T. Director)

Kyriacos moved to the U.K. from his native Cyprus in 1977 and obtained an honours degree in Computer Science and Statistics plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy and Finance. He joined the Phoenix Travel Group as a part-time bookkeeper and in 1989 was appointed to the role of Technology Director. The company’s success in the years that followed was due in no small part to his programming skills which included the creation and implementation of a full back office accounting/MIS system. In 2002, Phoenix was acquired by TQ3 Travel Solutions and Kyriacos became a key member of TQ3’s global technology team before he elected to join Chambers Travel in 2007 as I.T. Director. Kyriacos joined Statesman Travel in 2008.

Sarah Bark - Business Development Director

Sarah Bark (Director of Business Development)

Sarah has spent the majority of her career within the travel industry having joined Phoenix Travel in 1984. Four years later she was appointed as Account Director to manage a new on-site travel team based in the City of London, which rapidly grew to a unit of more than 50 staff following its acquisition by Deutsche Bank in 1989. When Phoenix was acquired by TQ3 Travel Solutions in 2002, Sarah became Director of UK Operations which allowed her to work closely with her European counterparts and gain an in-depth understanding of a global organisation. Sarah joined Statesman Travel in 2007.

Juliet Reffold - Head of Account Management

Juliet Reffold (Head of Account Management)

Juliet has been a key member of the Statesman Travel team for the past 15 years, having worked previously as an Account Manager at IEL Travel before its acquisition by American Express in 1993. With 23 years overall industry experience gained in both operations and group/conference travel, Juliet is ideally qualified to direct our Account Management programme.

Debbie Matthams - Head of Event Management

Debbie Matthams (Head of Event Management)

Debbie has worked in the travel industry for 24 years, the last 18 of which have been spent managing conferences and group travel. Her extensive experience in the field of Event Management has been a significant part of Statesman’s service since she joined the company in 1994.

Caroline Buissinne - Operations Manager

Caroline Buissinne (Operations Manager)

Caroline’s travel career started 1996 when living in South Africa when she joined Destinations Travel. In 2001 she moved to the United Kingdom and joined the Phoenix Travel Group as part of a dedicated team that had been created for the recently acquired account of ABN AMRO. Initially employed as a consultant, Caroline quickly showed her full potential and after successive internal promotions she was appointed to the role of Operations Manager for the ABN AMRO account in 2006. Caroline joined Statesman Travel in 2008.

Emma Taylor-Merritt - Financial Controller

Emma Taylor-Merritt (Financial Controller)

Emma has worked in Finance for 16 years, the last 11 of which have been in the travel industry. Prior to joining the company, Emma acquired a great deal of experience working for both national and multi-national travel management companies in a variety of finance and accounting roles. Emma joined Statesman Travel in 2007.

Hazel Dawson - Network Relations Manager

Hazel Dawson (Network Relations Manager)

Hazel recently joined the company as Network Relationship Manager, supporting Statesman’s supplier programme as well as co-ordinating and developing our global network, Travel Solutions International. She brings considerable experience of structuring similar programmes in the U.K travel management industry especially in supplier relationships and developing communication opportunities.
